Ancient Teachings

"Ancient Teachings" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild: Second Wind.

Overview[]

This quest is located at Tarin's Smithy, a location near the Lanayru Wetlands. At Tarin's Smithy, the blacksmith, Tarin, tells Link of weapons that can be forged with Ancient Technology. He asks you to help enable him to recreate such weapons.

After bringing an ancient weapon to Tarin, he explains that he needs notes on these weapons to recreate such weapons. These notes can be found in ruins near Cora Lake in the Lake Tower region. After opening the buried chest and obtaining the Ancient Memory Part, Link returns to Tarin. Once the tablet is shown to Tarin, the quest is completed.

Once completed, Tarin is able to craft all three tiers of Guardian Weapons, and thanks Link for helping him with the quest. For helping, Tarin rewards Link with 100 Rupees.

Objectives[]


Stage	Description
1	Tarin told you about weapons that could be forged with ancient technology. You should ask him for more information so that you can help him forge these weapons. They could be useful in the battle against Calamity Ganon.
2	Apparently some of the "Ancient Shrines" throughout the land contain miniaturized Guardians with strong weapons forged by ancient Sheikah technology. Tarin is sure he'd be able to recreate these weapons if he could find any. You should keep an eye out for Guardian weapons and return to Tarin if you find any.
3	There is a Sheikah legend about a blacksmith named Cocorain who lived 10,000 years ago and kept notes using ancient technology on how to create advanced Guardian weapons. You should try to find his old home to see if his notes have survived. According to Tarin, Cocorain lived in the hills overlooking a great lake and the sea and named a smaller lake by his home after himself.
4	You found a strange Ancient Tablet in some ruins infested by monsters north of Cora Lake and south of Lake Hylia. The Faron Sea was visible from the hills, and it was a well-secluded place. This tablet must have the notes of the ancient blacksmith! You should bring it back to Tarin to see if he can use it to recreate the ancient weapons used by miniaturized Guardians.
Complete	After showing Tarin the Ancient Tablet you found near Lake Hylia and Cora Lake and the most advanced Guardian weapons, he was able to recreate the ancient weapons of the legendary Sheikah blacksmith Cocorain from 10,000 years ago. Tarin said he can forge Guardian, Guardian+, or Guardian++ weapons whenever you want (as long as you have enough ancient materials).
